Herbal Cushi-Support 900g

Herbal Cushi Support is a blend of natural herbs that complement each other to help support horses and ponies that have Equine Cushing's Disease (PPID).
Equine Cushing's disease is more correctly known as pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID). It involves the pituitary gland, which is a gland located at the base of the brain that produces hormones in response brain signals.
In PPID, the normal mechanisms which control hormone production by the pituitary gland are damaged so that the inhibitory part is lost. Thus there is excessive production of the normal hormones from the pituitary. These hormones then enter the circulation and affect the whole body. Clinical signs include increased coat length and delayed shedding of the winter coat, laminitis, lethargy, increased sweating, weight loss and excessive drinking and urinating.
Herbal Cushi-Support is an equal blend of agnus castus powder, milk thistle seed powder, MSM, magnesium oxide and rosehips powder.
Agnus Castus powder
Agnus castus powder, also known as chasteberry, helps support the adrenal gland and normalise hormone levels. This is particularly beneficial for horses with Cushings Disease.
Milk Thistle
By supporting antioxidant status in the liver, milk thistle might improve insulin sensitivity which might help horses with equine metabolic syndrome. It may regulate healthy blood sugar levels in these horses when exposed to high-sugar diets.
MSM
An organic form of sulphur to support joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and the immune system. It is an important mineral in the synthesis of vitamins and compounds which assist joint lubrication and cell maintenance.
Magnesium oxide
Magnesium affects insulin secretion and its action in the cells. It also helps cells become more flexible and permeable to insulin.
Rosehips powder
Rosehips have potent antioxidant properties, which can help to reduce the incidence of secondary infections in horses with Cushing’s disease. Antioxidants also help to prevent cellular aging and death.

Feed 30-50g daily, depending on the size of the horse
