Herbal Hoof 900g £5.99
| Description: |
Herbal Hoof is a blend of natural herbs that complement each other to provide your horse with a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals for strong hooves and general health and well-being. Both Rosehips and Seaweed are human food grade, so are of the highest quality. This blend is ideal for horses not needing any extra oil or protein in their diet, as many vitamin and mineral supplements contain linseed or cod liver oil. This combination has proved to be very good for growing healthy hooves - great for barefoot horses or those with poor quality feet! Its is similar to my 'Herbal Health' which has Spearmint added. Due to the absense of Spearmint, you only need to feed 35-45g per day, so a 900g pack will last longer.
SEAWEED (Dried Kelp)
A rich source of organic minerals and vitamins, seaweed is especially rich in iodine. It has been used throughout history as a source of micronutrients.
Seaweed is a 100% natural supplement. It is particularly useful for horses on restricted grazing, or not receiving the amount of hard feed necessary to provide a full range of vitamins and minerals.
ROSEHIPS
Rosehips are a very useful anti-oxidant, and are often known as a ‘blood tonic’. They are very good at helping to cleanse the body of toxins, and support the kidneys, liver and circulatory system.
They are also nutritionally important for healthy hooves, bones, skin and coat. They are a rich source of vitamin C, as well as vitamin A, thiamine, riboflavins, niacin and vitamin K. These help to support the immune system particularly useful for horses recovering from injury or illness.
Herbal Hoof is made to a determined ratio to provide the right balance of the 2 supplements.
Feeding Guidelines: feed 35-45g daily depending on size of the horse.
Feeding 40g daily, provides 25g seaweed and 15g rosehips
Feeding as an Infusion
Many herbs, including HERBAL HEALTH, can be fed in their dried form, but this may mean that it sometimes takes a while for an improvement to be seen.
There is a way to speed up the effect! By simply making an infusion with the herb, the active constituents are made more readily available and are more easily absorbed by the horse.
Ideally, add a ½ litre/pint of boiling water to the herbs to be given that day. When cooled, the whole infusion (including the herbs) can be used to dampen down the horses feed. If access to a kettle is not practical, soaking overnight in cold water will also help to release the active constituents.
